PDF Translation
Overview
- Purpose: Extract text from PDF documents and translate it, with support for preserving the original layout, table structures, and image positions. Export as editable Word/Markdown or as a style‑preserving PDF.
- Use cases: Academic papers, contracts, product manuals, reports, etc.
How to Use
- Upload the PDF in the web app.
- Choose a translation mode:
- Quick translation (text extraction): Best for PDFs with selectable text.
- Layout‑preserving translation: Rebuilds page layout and embeds translations; ideal for complex formatting (takes longer).
- Configure source/target languages, whether to enable OCR, table recognition level, and more.
- Start the translation and preview the results; when finished, download as PDF/Word/Markdown.
- If manual proofreading is needed, edit the result and export again.
Recommendations
- For complex tables, export to Word first, then adjust layout and proofread.
Troubleshooting
- Garbled/missing text: If it is a scanned document, enable OCR and verify the language pack; otherwise try uploading the original digital version.
- Tables misaligned: Switch the recognition level or export to Word and correct manually.
- Processing timeout: Upload by chapters or in batches, or use the desktop client’s batch processing.
